Onextra offers live and offline closed captioning, subtitling, live webinar and descriptive video services for news, sport, entertainment, politics, government and corporations. Captioning and subtitling services can be provided in English, French and Spanish. We offer described video in both English and French. We work with Canada’s largest broadcasters, content producers and distributors. We offer Pop-On and Roll-Up style captions and subtitles as well as Netflix style timed-text editing and delivery.

Our work is delivered to Broadcasters and all other Streaming Platforms (Netflix, YouTube, Vimeo, Hulu, Amazon and iTunes).

 

Our Story

Onextra was created in 2004 as a small media accessibility for linear distribution shop, servicing independent producers. It quickly grew to a sizeable downtown Toronto operation developing modern digital workflows. Onextra is supplying a full array of digital media accessibility services to major broadcasters, content distributors and leading digital media streaming platforms.

 

Our Core

Gabor
President

Gabor hails from Europe. He has been calling Toronto home for over 25 years. He has a life-time’s experience in media and media services. He is an entrepreneur at heart, and Onextra is one of his latest ventures. When he is not running Onextra, Gabor can be found on the golf course or playing tennis with his family.

Roman
Director of Technical Operations

Roman was born in Ukraine, but moved to Canada in 1994. He graduated from PrimeTech College as a Computer Programmer. He has over 15 years’ experience in media and entertainment. At Onextra, he oversees workflow creation and management, and he provides IT support for its staff.

Andrea
Project Coordinator

Andrea is a graduate of the Radio and Television Arts School of Media at Ryerson University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Media Production. At Onextra she is the person who will manage your projects from start to finish.

Laura
Timed Text Specialist

Laura grew up in Oakville, and she has lived in Toronto for six years. She is currently studying Sociology at Ryerson University. At Onextra, Laura transcribes and times your projects. Her favourite movie is “Spirited Away”.

Carmen
Administration and Billing Coordinator

Carmen grew up in Mexico. She has been living in Canada since 2008 and in Toronto since 2015. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources. At Onextra, she ensures office processes run smoothly.

Her favorite movies are “The Green Mile” and “A Walk in the Clouds”.

 

 

Magenta
Timed Text Specialist

Magenta grew up outside of Toronto. She moved to the city in 2010 to pursue widely varied studies in Medieval History, Archaeology & Film Theory. She is a graduate of RCC Institute of Technology with a diploma in Video Game Design & Development. At Onextra, she transcribes spoken content & adds closed captions to the media provided.

Her favourite movie is the Lord of the Rings (all three). She spends her free time hiking, playing video-games, & herding cats.
